Last weekend after a shopping spree around town, we decided to check out Hurricane's Grill at Darling Harbour for lunch. It is a reputable chain of western restaurant with its famous branch at Bondi Beach.
It is located at Harbourside Shopping Centre and had just been recently opened.
The establishment appeared to be modern chic with tables lined up along the windows for customers to enjoy the gorgeous view.
Take a glance beyond the window silts and take in the view of Darling Harbour while surrounded by exceptional attractions such as the Sydney Aquarium, Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney Wildlife World, Powerhouse Museum, IMAX theatre to name a few.
Most of the waiters in this restaurant were quite good-looking, probably the proprietor's notion to attract more lady customers. Some of them had bulging muscles clearly penetrated through their Hurricane T-shirts.
Warm and fuzzy, just the way my momma makes them.
I had the steak with chips that came with wine infused sauce. Medium-rare was my preference and kudos to the chef for making it just right.
Sadly it was slightly burnt on the corners, which is totally unacceptable for that price. Besides that, the steak was just so-so and nothing to shout home about. I think their method of cooking is BBQ rather than the normal slow-cooked-over fire in other restaurants.
Strangely as I'm typing this I'm getting a sniff of fries ..... from the computer maybe?
The GF had the lamb ribs which was even more burnt (20%) than the steak. Luckily we ordered the half rack which had 2 enormous servings.
We had an enjoyable time nibbling at the bits and pieces of meat on the ribs while slurping the sauce. Occassionally we had to spit out the "black" burnt bits into the bowl. ;(
The waiters will put on napkins for you if you're ordering the ribs, as the recommended method of consumption is to tear away with your hands. There's even a rubbish bowl after you've ravaged the ribs.
Overall the view was excellent but the food had to be further improved or the price had to be reduced.
