After our lunch at the "100 years old house", we proceeded to our half day tour. Just 5 mins in our journey, Mr. Korn slowed down his trusty Toyota and gestured to us in one direction while saying, "That shop sells the best salak pao in Chiangmai".
We glanced to his direction and noticed the shop he was pointing at. That's like telling a drug addict that there're some drugs over there.
We had no idea what "Salak Pao" is, but that's not going to stop us from trying some. I kindly
Apparently Salak Pao is just a Thai name for our local "Char Siew Pao". The outer skin feels and taste similar to our Char Siew Pao.
The insides consist of pork meat and an undistinguisable yellowish substance, but with no char siew. Overall I would rate this as an ordinary pao, nothing very special about the taste nor the apperance.
I think Mr. Korn must be related to the shop owner ....
