Chapter 18. UP UP NORTH - DAY 3 - CHIANGMAI

Suvarnabhumi Airport

After 2 hectic days in Bangkok, we headed back to Suvarnabhumi Airport for our flight to Chiangmai. Luckily our bags were still within the baggage weight restrictions even after 2 days of shopping.

Goodbye Bangkok

Hello Chiangmai

We bid the chaotic city goodbye and welcomed the relaxing country-side. Notice the stark contrast between the 2 places.

Plane cabin

We're taking an AirAsia flight which will take about 1hr to reach Chiangmai. No food and no drinks but low in price.

Looks similar to Kuching Airport in terms of size and facilities

Outside - waiting for Mr. Korn's car

After stepping down in Chiangmai International Airport, we gathered our luggages and went in search of Mr. Korn, our appointed driver+guide for the day.

I've found his name in Trip Advisor forums which recommended his services. It's important to find one that's fluent in English as you don't want to spend your trip in a cat-dog communication breakdown.

In Chiangmai,

There are fewer cars on the roads.

There are mountains.

There are fewer signboards by the roads.

And the buildings are much lower.

Away from the hustle and bustle of bangkok, it felt good to be in Chiangmai. We can't wait to checkin to our hotel and see what Chiangmai has in store for us.
