Chapter 19. CENTARA DUANGTAWAN HOTEL - CHIANGMAI

Centara Duangtawan Chiangmai

Front of Hotel

This is our accomodation for the Chiangmai phase of our trip. It is a 3-4 star hotel located in close proximity to the city centre and just 5 mins walk to the Night Market.

In fact you can start shopping at the shops by the roadside the moment you step out.

Main Entrance

The main entrace is decorated with a lovely chandelier as with most hotels and feels quite grand. There are 2 polite doormen stationed permanently here to usher guest in with a warm "Sawadee-ka" and bid them farewell when they leave.

Lobby

The lobby is located on the 2nd floor, where you either walk up the giant spiral stars or take the escalator by the side.

Elevators

Our room

Our room is booked at 1648Baht/night inclusive of all taxes. I like the design of the bedsheets which gave the entire room a grand feel.

Nice bedsheets

Separate basin

The wash/basin area is separated from the bathroom, definitely a good concept. One can brush teeth here while the other takes a bath.

It may not be suitable for "自 恋 狂"s who like to reflect every inch of their bodies in the mirror when they bathe.

The only complaint is the bathroom cubicle is quite undersized.

Enjoying the view

The room comes with a nice view of the entire city. I can't remember which floor we stayed at but the elevation was sufficient to have a decent view.

City View 1

Chiangmai is a really small city, with a population of 1.5M and all the low buildings. But due to its proximity to the mountains, the air here is very fresh.

City View 2

I've heard that people from Chiangmai have fair skin compared to the rest of Thailand. But unsure of the accuracy of the myth/fact.

Hey look, even comes with a swimming pool.

But like in Bangkok, I doubt that we'll have time to have a dip. Maybe its our asian mentality, why swim in other countries? Go back home plenty of time to swim, must use the valuable time to walk around better. haha ;p
