1. Poignant - intense:

"Keen, poignant agonies seemed to shoot from his neck downward."

2. Assimilate - incorporate; absorb:

"To assimilate knowledge and culture."

3. Helter skelter - disorderly; haphazard:

"Books and papers were scattered on the desk in a helter-skelter manner."

4. Futile - ineffective; useless:

"He keep up his futile efforts to pursue wealth beyond his reach."


5. Tangible - real or actual, rather than imaginary:

"There is no tangible evidence to support this claim."

6. Imminent - likely to occur at any moment:

"Her death is imminent."

7. Tumultuous - disorderly or noisy; highly aggitated:

"~ a tumultuous crowd of students."
