Laksa House @ Queen Victoria Building

Main entrance

The Laksa House is located in the QVB in the central shopping district. It comes highly recommended from my friend of mocha origins.

Authentic Malaysia Cuisine

It is one of the many food outlets in the city selling authentic Malaysian fare.

We happened to be in the vincinity the other day and decided to check the place out, which according to my friend serves "The best replica of Sarawak Laksa" in Sydney.

After our disappointing review of the supposedly "best replica of Sarawak Laksa" in Adelaide, we weren't exactly pinning out hopes on this one either.

Laksa with Chicken $7.90

The soup base was sweet and thick with a slight tinge of coconut flavour, accompanied by succulent chicken slices with just the right amount of thin vermicelli.

It was indeed "The best replica of Sarawak Laksa" thus far in Sydney. (70% similarity) Credit to my friend who found this excellent store.

Tom Yum Soup $8.50

We also tried the Tom Yum Soup which isn't exactly Malaysia fare, but is widely available in Malaysian eateries back home. This dish was nothing to shout home about, but it did come across as slightly spicy.

Spicy/hot/chilli food is hard to come across in Sydney as most of them had been subdued in the spice factor to suit the angmoh taste buds.

Counter

Other recognizable dishes include Hokkien Mee, Economic Rice, Nasi Lemak etc. We noticed that a lot of the patrons ordered the Nasi Lemak and from the sniff of the dish from afar, it does smell the look.

The eatery was 30% occupied when we first stepped in, moderate considering it was on a weekday. However hungry customers continued to pile in as we were slurping away and was 75% occupied by the time we finished.

Laksa House: "Do you need waiters? I'm willing to work for free Malaysian food." :P
