Garden Buffet @ Star City
After the mini celebration at home, we headed out during the weekends to Star City Casino for some buffet action. We opted for the lunch as it was lighter on the wallets.
We decided to take the tram there. Despite being in Sydney for half a year, I'm ashamed to admit this is our virgin voyage.
We arrived there about noon, by then we were famished. We got a tad lost trying to find the main entrance, helping us work up a great appetite.
Garden Buffet is situated at the Star City Casino, which happens to be Sydney's hangout place for gambling addicts. There's also an attached theater for shows and concerts, 2nd only to the Opera House.
The buffet is priced at $23.90 pp with member card. It is an international buffet with anything and everything that your mind can conjure.
At the "Asian Corner" at this particular restaurant and others as well, one can normally find a few strangely familiar dishes without fail. "Honey Baked Chicken", "Ku Lou Meat", "Fried Popiah" and "Dim Sum" are those right off my head.
The lamb shank was really spectacularly splendid. There was an array of meat dishes for carnivors and meat lovers such as Roasted Chicken, Roast Beef, Roast Leg of Smoked Ham. No photos as the lamb was calling out my name, "Eat me .... Fill me in your tummy ...."
Another highlight of the meal was the dessert menu. I have had my fair share of buffets but not one with such an extensive selection of desserts
I'm not really a big fan of desserts, however I would like to give the restaurant a good pat on the back on behalf of all dessert enthusiasts.
Lest I forget, the fresh prawns were every customers' clear favourite. I pitied the staff handling the prawn counter as she had to keep piling and replenishing the dish as the diners snatched, shoved and grabbed every single crustacean once it hit the counter. I even spotted some desperate folks grasping the few leftovers that dropped to the ground.
Maybe I was exaggerating just a little. :P Just one complaint though, if only the prawns were served shelled.
